Criminal Record Check

As you know, all our coaches and registered bench staff need police record checks, as mandated by the Ontario Ringette Association.

1: For people living in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa, who are governed by the City of Ottawa;

Print the volunteer letter after you have filled in your name etc.

Follow the links to the Ottawapolice.ca police record checks and fill out the forms needed by the Ottawa police . Bring the forms , the volunteer letter and two acceptable pieces of id (listed on the back of the police forms) to a police station. The front desk staff there will accept the forms and provide you with a receipt that it is being processed. The check is free with the letter and will take 4-6 weeks ( possibly longer).

The police will mail you back the completed police check. Once you have the police check, please bring to registration the original and not a copy. GAARA will then indicate on our spreadsheet it is done and it will be good for 3 years. Once GAARA see's it, we will provide it back to you. GAARA does not keep copies or originals on hand.

2: For people who live outside the City, ie Rockland, Arnprior , Kingston , etc;

Please take the volunteer letter, with proper I.D. to your local police department, and fill in their paperwork. Once you have the police check, pls bring to registration the original and not a copy. GAARA will then indicate on our spread sheet it is done and it will be good for 3 years. Once GAARA see's it, we will provide it back to you. GAARA does not keep copies or originals on hand.
