I currently play in Quebec and would like to play in Ontario, what is the process?
The first step is to fill out an Athlete Release Form. ?You can find the form here,
Have Ringuette Quebec sign the form (not the Gatineau association).
Send the signed form to the GAARA registrar at registrar@gaara.ca who will make a copy of it and send the original to Ringette Ontario Executive Director.
NOTE:
If a player hasn't played ringette for a couple of years NO form is needed. The player can register just like any other player living in Ontario and she would be considered a new player.
Do you have to play a certain number of games to be eligible for playoffs?
This use to be a By-Law in GAARA but it has since been removed. You do not need a minimum number of games played to be eligible for playoffs.
How can I find out where to mail the game sheets?
Send an e-mail to the statistician. You can find their email addresses here
Click here to read the by-laws related to game sheets.
Do I have to stroke off players on the game sheet?
No. There is no ringette rule anywhere that requires any player on the game sheet to be stroked off (removed). If a player is not eligible to play (not on the game sheet at the start of the game or stroked off) and then does arrive part way thru the game - they will NOT be allowed to play. You are NOT allowed to add players to the game sheet once the game has started. You are not allowed to "undo" a stroked-off player.
If however a player is not stroked off - then the official game record would be that this player did in fact play the game. If the player did play (according to the official record) - then this player may unintentionally break a suspension rule or exceed the number of games a player may spare or some other related rule...so making the game sheet as correct as possible is good.
Bottom line: Refs will ask you if you would like to make the number of players in attendance match what is recorded on the game sheet - but the team is NOT required to remove players. Please remember it is the team's responsibility to make sure the game sheet is correct, not the refs.
How do I add players to my team after receiving the final TRF from the GAARA registrar?
Send an e-mail to registrar@gaara.ca.
How do I organize my team stickers for game sheets
As per by-law 12.2: Teams are to print the full names and sweater numbers of all the players listed on the Team Registration Form (TRF) on the game sheet. The labels must follow this order: Jersey number, Player's last name, Player's first name. All players must be listed numerically by the last name.
Example: (G) 3- Dow, Jane
5- Stewart, Ann
10- Ferguson, Susan
More on the by-laws for game sheets can be found here
Where do I put the Safety Officers (S.O.) information on the game sheet?
On the game sheet, scratch out the 'Trainer' title and write S.O. next to it then in the adjacent box write the name of the Safety Officer you have chosen for that game.
How to check how many times someone has spared?
Reach out to your team's division statistician, you can find the appropriate email address here
Use the stats kept on the website: Go to your division schedule, select standings, select your team and you should see your player roster. From your player roster select a player and then you will be able to see the games they have played and for what teams.
How do I report an issue with the clock or shot clock at an arena?
